Hotell Maritim Skjervøy AS was established on November 1, 1989 and both operates and owns Hotell Maritim. The company has had a number of different shareholders over the years, but has always been chaired by the chairman and former chairman of Skjervøy Aksel Jørgensen.
The hotel building was officially opened on 22 March 1974 and was then owned by the Municipality of Skjervøy and for the first years was operated by the Nordic group in Harstad under the name Skjervøy Nordic Hotel.
The municipality then took the initiative to have a new hotel built in Skjervøy, after the town had then been without a hotel after Bondeheimen burned down in the late 60s.
In the mid-1980s, the municipality sold the building to a private company, which after a few years went over. The chairman of the day then teamed up with a number of local business people and formed Hotell Maritim Skjervøy AS, which was then awarded the building.
At that time, the hotel had 22 rooms and has since expanded twice (in 1992 and 2005), so that we have 35 rooms today.
Over the years, Hotel Maritim has been a great restaurant company as a hotel and has had hundreds of local young people as extra help and in summer and weekend jobs. Over the years, our kitchen has also had a number of chef apprentices who today have professional letters and practice all over the country.
Hotell Maritim Skjervøy AS is a member of NHO Reiseliv and the Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Training Office in Troms. We collaborate with Nord-Trom upper secondary school, school location Skjervøy and are also a member of the local trade association and the Skjervøy department store.
